Los niños con JBS crecen muy lentamente, tienen talla y peso bajos. La causa es el hipotiroidismo congénito (desde el vientre) y la deficiencia pancreática por malabsorción. Estas dos enfemedades dificultan el crecimiento, sumado a que este tipo de niños tienen microdentición (que no les permite triturar bien sus alimentos). Dafne tiene desnutrición crónica agudizada. Esto significa que muy probablemente nunca alcance el peso deseado según su edad. Es muy importante tomar en cuenta que el peso y la estatura vayan de acuerdo a su ritmo de crecimiento. Y siempre estar bajo control médico.

Children with JBS grow up so slowly, they have low weight and height. The reason is the congenital hypothyiroidism (from the womb) and the pancreatic deficiency by malabsortion. This two illness make difficult to grow, on top of that this kind of children show microdentition (this do not allow them to grind their food very well). Daphne has cronical acute undernourished. This means is very probable she never gets the ideal weight according to her age. But is really important to consider the weight and the stature go in agreement to the rithm of her growth, and always be under medical supervision.
